PORTLAND – Maxine Dora Ella Eaton Bray, 91, of Washington Avenue in Portland, and formerly of Bath, died Friday, Dec. 1, at St. Joseph’s Manor after a long illness.

She was born Dec. 17, 1914, in Thomaston, a daughter of Lester and Mabel Eaton. She was educated in Portland and graduated from Portland High School with the Class of 1933. She was also a graduate of Gray’s Business College.

She worked for many years as a secretary at the Salvation Army Headquarters, serving in the welfare and the finance offices at the building on High Street and then moving to the building on Cumberland Avenue, where she worked for many years with her husband, who was custodian, until their retirement.

Survivors include her son, Franklin E. and his wife, Sandra L. Bray, of Casco; three grandchildren, Belinda Moulton, Julie Allen and Cynthia Bray; as well as four great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her husband, Edgar Bray.
