BOSTON (AP) – New England Patriots linebacker Junior Seau, out for the year after his third straight season-ending injury, said he plans to return next year for an 18th season.

Seau’s season ended after he broke his arm against the Bears on Nov. 26.

Seau, who turns 38 next month, signed a one-year deal with the Patriots this summer after a brief retirement. The 12-time Pro Bowl selection told the San Diego Union-Tribune he has no plans to retire again.

“I’m going to be back,” he said. “I don’t know which helmet I’ll wear, but I’m definitely going to be back.”

Patriots spokesman Stacey James said it was premature to comment on whether the Patriots would attempt to re-sign Seau, who made 69 tackles for New England, next year.
