LISBON – Marjorie DeBrosky led all scorers with 26 points to lead Livermore Falls over Lisbon 65-51 in a girls’ basketball game Saturday.

Rachel Ventrella and Caryn Howell also registered double digits for the Andies (1-0) with 13 and 11 points, respectively.

Lisbon (0-1) held a one-point advantage after the first quarter, but turnovers cost them dearly in the second as they were outscored 20-8.

Heather Parry led the Greyhounds with 10 points and seven boards, while Emily Moore chipped in with 11.

Falmouth 45, Poland 33

POLAND – The Poland girls’ basketball team played a strong second half but could not recover from a slow first-half start and dropped their season opener 45-33 to Falmouth Saturday afternoon.

Poland was led by Paige Piper with 12 points, while Kathryn Hall and Danielle Belanger each chipped in six. Paige Wyman paced Falmouth with 12 points.

Mt. Abram 49, Georges Valley 33

SALEM – Kenni Norton nailed a trio of 3-pointers and finished with a game-high 21 points to lead Mt. Abram past Georges Valley 49-33 in girls’ MVC basketball.

Mt. Abram used strong defense in the first half and led 25-13 after two periods. Janessa Thomas and Brittany York combined to chip for 15 points, while Asley Geel and Samantha Buchanan each led Georges Valley with eight points apiece.

Mt. Blue 53, Hampden 45

HAMPDEN – After a tight first half and a combination of accurate shooting and tight defense, the Mt. Blue girls’ basketball team pulled away in the second half to seal a 53-45 victory over Hampden in KVAC basketball action.

Christine Mosher led the Cougars with 15 points, while Meg Robinson chipped in with 14.

Mt. Blue shooters hit 16 of 20 free throws to help seal the victory. Tanna Ross led all scorers by pouring in 22 points for Hampden.

Telstar 64, Boothbay 39

BOOTHBAY – Junior Bailey Davis poured in a game high 32 points, including 19 in the first half, to lead the Telstar girls’ basketball team to a season opening 64-39 victory over Boothbay Saturday.

Davis also hit four of her five 3-pointers in the first half, while teammate Josie Reiss chipped in with 18 points for the Rebels.

Ali Hartley led Boothbay with 12 points.

Med. Valley 49, Maranacook 32

READFIELD – The Medomak Valley girls’ basketball team raced out to a 30-17 halftime lead and continued to cruise to a 49-32 victory over Maranacook Saturday.

Ten different players entered the scorebook for the Panthers led by Stephanie Lee’s 11 points, with Miranda Conary adding eight. Alyssa Neptune led Maranacook with nine points.

Hebron 30, Gould 16

BETHEL – Sara Powers hit five field goals for 10 points to lead Hebron to a 30-16 triumph over Gould in girls’ basketball action Saturday.

The Lumberjacks (2-0) outpaced the Huskies (1-1) in each quarter, taking eight- and six-point advantages in the opening and closing frames.

Kainani Stevens collected a pair of field goals and three baskets from the charity stripe.

Kate Roberti paced Gould with six points.

Jay 43, Hall-Dale 36

JAY-Kaylie DeMillo posted a game-high 23 points, including four 3-pointers, as Jay downed Hall-Dale 43-36 in Saturday girls’ basketball.

Leading by one entering the fourth quarter, DeMillo and Liz LeBlanc combined for 11 points as the Tigers (1-0) outscored the Bulldogs 12-6 to secure the win.

LeBlanc finished the game with 10 points.

Katie Frett led the Bulldogs (0-1) with nine points.
