DIXFIELD – The Dirigo High School student selected as the DAR Good Citizen of the year is Brielle Brooks, daughter of Carl and Mary Virgin-Brooks of Dixfield.

The DAR award recipient must have the qualities of dependability, which includes truthfulness, loyalty and punctuality; service, which includes cooperation, courtesy and considerations of others; leadership, which includes personality, self-control and ability to assume responsibility; and patriotism, which includes unselfish interest in family, school, community and nation, to an outstanding degree.

The recommended procedure for selecting a DAR Good Citizen is for the faculty to choose three seniors who have demonstrated, in an outstanding way, the qualities of good citizenship.

From the three students, the senior class selects one student. The DAR Good Citizen is awarded a DAR Good Citizen pin, certificate and a wallet recognition card. The student is also eligible, if she/he wishes, to enter the DAR Good Citizen Scholarship Contest.
