LEWISTON – A former events manager at Philadelphia’s Wachovia Complex will take over the helm at the Androscoggin Bank Colisee, Colisee officials announced Monday.

Jason Blumenfeld will replace Jeff Schumacher as general manager of the arena and ice rink.

The Colisee is managed by Comcast subsidiary Global Spectrum.

Blumenfeld joined Global Spectrum two years ago. He was the lead coordinator for the 2006 NCAA men’s first and second round basketball games at the Wachovia Center and one of the principals responsible for bringing the 2008 U.S. Olympic gymnastic trials to Philadelphia.

Before that, he was an event operator at Philadelphia Phillies’ Citizens Bank Park, also a Global Spectrum-managed facility. At the baseball facility, he helped the company and the team open the new 43,000-seat ball park.

“Jason brings an incredible amount of experience and tenacity with him to Lewiston,” said Global Spectrum Chief Operating Officer John Page. “We are extremely confident that he will continue leading Global Spectrum’s mission of providing the ultimate entertainment experience for all of our customers throughout the Lewiston region.”

Shumacher will take a position as general manager of the Sovereign Bank Arena in Trenton, N.J. – another Global Spectrum managed property. That’s a 10,000-seat arena that opened its doors in 1999. He came to the Colisee in June 2005.
