JAY – Senior guard Zane Armandi tickled the twine with a game-high 17 points to edge Jay past Carrabec 58-54 in MVC boys’ basketball action Monday.

The Tigers (1-1) played neck and neck throughout the contest, but pulled ahead down the stretch when Rocky DeSanctis and Trevor McCourt connected on a series of free throws.

Waynflete 40, St. Dom’s 37

PORTLAND – Junior guard Lucas O’Neil drained 14 points, including six from the charity stripe, to lead Waynflete to a 40-37 victory over St. Dom’s in boys’ basketball action Monday.

The Saints (0-2) led 18-15 at intermission with a close fought first half.

Senior guard Austin Fuller had a team-high 10 points for the Saints in the loss.

Gould 43, Elan 33

BETHEL – Ian Siekman had a solid performance with a game-high 16 points, 23 rebounds, six assists, and four blocks as Gould topped Elan 43-33 in a boys’ hoops match-up Monday evening.

The Elan (1-1) effort was paved by Turnic Molculm and Panzone Ryal, with 13 and 11 points, respectively.

Madison 53, Mt. Abram 47

SALEM – Senior guard Gabriel Fernandes tossed a game-high 16 points to lead Madison to a 53-47 triumph over Mt. Abram in boys’ basketball action Monday.

The Bulldogs (1-1) jumped out to an early 12-4 lead in the first quarter, and the game tightened up from that point forward. Sophomore forward Ezra Gourley contributed 12 points in the winning effort.

MountainValley 56, Livermore Falls 46

RUMFORD – Andy Shorey had a double-double with a game-high 21 points and 14 rebounds as Mountain Valley posted a 56-46 win over Livermore Falls in boys’ hoops Monday afternoon.

Owen Jones chipped in with 15 points, while D.J. Gerrish added 13 points and 10 assists for the Falcons (1-0) win.

Hockey
GNG/Poland 8, Oak Hill/Lisbon 7

AUBURN – Ben Piper tallied a hat-trick as Gray-New Gloucestor/Poland defeated Lisbon/Oak Hill 8-7 Monday.

Corey Cormier, Justin Milsor, Seth Champagne, Gardner Lajoie all scored for the Patriotic Knights’ effort.

Kevin Laplante led Lisbon with three goals and Tyler Pomerleau added two more.

Brunswick 4, EL 3

Kit Smith had a goal and two assists and Josh Clark added a goal and an assist to lead Brunswick (2-0) past upset-minded Edward Little 4-3 Monday night.

Billy Brewster, Corey LaRue and Chris Carver each had one goal and one assist for the Eddies (0-2).
