AUGUSTA – Kelsey Nicolas had a double-double with 16 points and 16 rebounds to give Edward Little the edge it needed as the Red Eddies shook off Cony, 39-36, in girls’ basketball Tuesday.

EL coach Craig Jipson collected his 100th career win.

Brittney French contributed 17 points for the Eddies (1-1).

Cony (1-1) was paced by Cassie Cooper and Kristi Violette with 17 and 11 points, respectively.

Mt. Ararat 56, Lewiston 29

TOPSHAM – Jessica Stahl netted a game-high 13 points to lead Mt. Ararat to a 56-29 victory over Lewiston in KVAC girl’s action Tuesday.

Sami Owen chipped in for the Eagles (1-1) with seven points, while Kayla Morong added six.

The Blue Devils (0-2) received seven points from high scorer Danielle Willey, while Athena Andoiades tallied six. Mt. Ararat jumped out to a 19-9 lead in the first quarter and was never challenged.

Hebron 46, GPC 25

PORTLAND – Annie Hart netted 12 points as Hebron rolled past Greater Portland Christian 46-25 in a girls’ basketball matchup Tuesday.

Kainani Stevens and Kayla Hemphill chipped in for Hebron (3-0) with 10 points apiece in a well-balanced attack.

Greater Portland Christian was paced by Vicky Woodward with an eight-point performance, while Bethany Green added five. Hebron jumped out to a 22-11 lead in the first half and was never challenged.

Buckfield 54, Richmond 34

BUCKFIELD – Kasey Farrington scored 13 points and led a trio of players in double digits as Buckfield rolled past Richmond 54-34 in an EWC matchup Tuesday.

Alyssa Henderson chipped in for the Bucks (2-0) with 12 points, while Abby Jones added 10.

Richmond (1-1) was paced by Melanie Schanck with a 12-point performance. Buckfield held a 29-14 advantage at the half and never trailed.

Dirigo 54, Telstar 36

BETHEL – Katie Hutchinson poured in 15 points as Dirigo topped Telstar 54-36 in a girls’ basketball contest Tuesday evening.

Shannon Daley added 14 points to the Cougars’ (2-0) win. Dirigo held only a slight advantage, 26-24, after the first half, but came out strong and outscored Telstar 28-12 in the second half.

The Rebels’ (1-1) effort was led by Josie Reiss with 12 points. Bailey Davis chipped in with nine points and six blocks.

Madison 57, Mt. Abram 32

MADISON – Margo Russell tallied 21 points, 10 rebounds, and had three blocks to lead Madison to a 57-32 win over Mt. Abram Tuesday in girls’ basketball action.

Briann Emery chipped in with 10 points and seven rebounds, while Lacey Ashbrook had eight points for the Bulldogs (2-0).

Kenni Norton scored 13 points, while Logahn Walker netted seven for Mt. Abram (1-1).

Monmouth 60, Wiscasset 42

MONMOUTH – Cortney Barrett had a double-double with 18 points and 11 rebounds as Monmouth posted a 60-42 win over Wiscasset in an MVC girls’ basketball game.

Jenn Lola contributed 11 points and eight steals, while Brittany Scirica added 10 points for the Mustangs (1-1). Monmouth jumped out to a good lead, but Wiscasset closed the gap to just a five-point difference before the half. The Mustangs came out aggressive in the third and fourth quarter to hold on to the win.

Wiscasset (0-2) was led by Sarah Pierce with 11 points and Marissa Hammond with nine.

Morse 68, Leavitt 23

BATH – Jill Henrickson drained 18 points Tuesday evening to pace Morse to a 68-23 rout over Leavitt in a KVAC girls’ basketball matchup.

Sarah Fitzgerald chipped in for the Shipbuilders (2-0) with 12 points. The Hornets (1-1) were paced by Meaghan Miller with six points, while Paige Dyer added five. Morse jumped out to a 27-4 lead in the first quarter and was never challenged.

G-NG 59, Freeport 29

GRAY – Junior Chelsea Durgin netted a game-high 20 points and 12 rebounds to lead Gray-New Gloucester to a convincing 59-29 victory over Freeport on Tuesday night.

Olivia Ryan also chipped in with 10 points for the Patriots (2-0), while Brittany Humphrey and Danielle Humphrey combined for 15 points.

Oak Hill 42, Maranacook 38

WALES – Emily Sabine scored 10 of her game-high 16 points in the fourth quarter to lift Oak Hill to a 42-38 triumph over Maranacook in girls’ basketball Tuesday.

Trailing by five at halftime, Oak Hill put it together in the second half with better ball control and accuracy from the line. Ambyr Provost chipped in with nine for the Raiders (1-0). Brittany Myles and Lyssa Neptune led Maranacook (0-2) with 12 points a piece.

Poland 57, York 56

POLAND – With six seconds left, Danielle Belanger netted a layup to give Poland the come-from-behind 57-56 win over York on Tuesday evening.

Boulanger rounded out the contest with 21 points, 14 of which she scored in the second half of the game. Paige Piper added 12 points, while Kasie Ford contributed eight points and 13 boards for the Knights (1-1).

Meredith Reid notched 16 points, while Stephanie Plastid added 12 for York (1-1).

Jay 69, Carrabec 40

NORTH ANSON – Kaylie DeMillo had total control of the game with 36 points, six steals, and five assists as Jay beat Carrabec 69-40 in girls’ basketball Tuesday.

Liz Leblanc and Hillary Beane each added eight points a piece for Jay (2-0). The Cobras (0-2) were led by Erica French with 21 points.
