GARDINER – Senior Brittney French was 13-for-17 from the free-throw line, finishing with a game-high 21 points, as Edward Little downed Gardiner 64-30 in girls’ action Friday night.

Jumping out to a 12-1 lead after one quarter, EL cruised through the next three quarters to improve to 2-1. Kelsey Nicolas poured in 16 points while Allie Forgues sank four 3-pointers for the Red Eddies. Mary Trahan paced Gardiner (1-2) with seven points.

Rangeley 51, Valley 23

BINGHAM – Rangeley bolted out to a 29-13 halftime lead and never looked back as the Lakers downed Valley 51-23 in girls’ basketball action.

Angela White poured in a game-high 16 points and added 11 boards in the victory. Krista Jenson chipped in with 10 points while Hayley White pulled down 11 rebounds for Rangeley (2-1). Jessica Brom and Katelyn Atwood paced Valley (1-2) with seven and five points respectively.

Telstar 41, Wiscasset 37

BETHEL – Junior guard Bailey Davis recorded 15 points as Telstar secured a 41-37 triumph over Wiscasset in MVC girls’ basketball action Friday.

Esther Pew contributed to the Rebels’ (2-1) winning effort with five points on a field goal and three free throws along with eight rebounds.

The Redskins (0-3) took a short-lived lead in the final frame, but Telstar recovered on a Josie Reiss basket and free throw from Pew. Megan Foye paced Wiscasset with a team-leading 15 points.

Dirigo 64, Georges Valley 33

THOMASTON – Senior guard Abby Fenstermacher scored a career-high 21 points to lead Dirigo to a 64-33 rout over Georges Valley in MVC girls’ basketball action Friday.

Senior guards Katie Hutchinson and Megan Russell had outstanding performances for the Cougars (3-0) as well. Hutchinson tabulated eight assists, while Russell notched eight rebounds.

Junior center Samantha Buchanan recorded a double-double for the Buccaneers (1-2) with 12 points and 12 rebounds.

Cony 84, Leavitt 20

TURNER – Senior shooting guard Cassie Cooper tossed a spectacular 32 points in the first half as Cony dumped Leavitt 84-20 in KVAC girls’ basketball action Friday.

The Rams (2-1) were on a mission as they outpaced the Hornets (1-2) by a margin of 20-4 and 27-4 in each of the first two quarters for a 47-8 halftime lead. Senior small forward Kristi Violette collected five field goals for 10 points for Cony.

Sophomore center Mariah Barrett led the Leavitt squad with four baskets for eight points.

Medomak Valley 49, Oak Hill 35

WALES – Oak Hill kept pace for three quarters but came up short as Jen O’Jala scored a game-high 12 points to lead Medomak Valley to a 49-35 victory.

Jasmyn Rose chipped in with nine points. O’Jala also hit a pair of 3’s for the Panthers (2-1). Katelyn Wells, Emily Sabine and Ambyr Provost all tallied seven points in the loss for the Raiders (1-1).

Camden 62, Maranacook 23

READFIELD – Ten different players hit the scoring column as Camden cruised to a 62-23 victory over Maranacook Friday in girls’ basketball action.

Erika Johnson led all scores with 15 points while Kayla Gushee added 11 for the Windjammers (2-1). Brittany Myles led the Black Bears (0-3) with eight points.

Livermore Falls 78, Winthrop 37

WINTHROP – Marjorie DeBrosky dropped in 22 of her game-high 26 points in the first half to propel Livermore Falls to a 78-37 win over Winthrop in MVC basketball.

Rachel Ventrella added 20 points and hit three 3-pointers, including a heave from halfcourt at the end of the third quarter. The Andies shot 57 percent from the field in the first half to jump out to a 37-21 lead. Amanda Garwood and Kaley Ball each scored 10 points to pace the Ramblers (1-2).
