The Patriots signed punter Tom Malone and defensive back James Patrick to their practice squad.

The moves came one day after the Patriots placed a punter on injured reserve for the second time this season. Ken Walter was added to the list with a foot injury after playing four games as a replacement for Josh Miller, who went on it with a shoulder injury. Both are out for the season.

Malone was released by San Francisco on June 29 after signing as a rookie free agent. He spent the previous four seasons at Southern California.

Another punter, Danny Baugher, has been on the practice squad since Oct. 10.

Patrick returns to the practice squad after being released from it on Dec. 12. He first joined it on Nov. 1.
