ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) – Outfielder Todd Donovan and infielder Jared Sandberg agreed Friday to minor league contracts with the Texas Rangers.

Sandberg is the nephew of former All-Star second baseman Ryne Sandberg, and was originally selected in the 16th round of the 1996 amateur draft by Tampa Bay. Sandberg has played parts of three seasons in the major leagues with Tampa Bay, batting .221 with 25 homers and 92 RBIs in 196 games from 2001-03.

He had 18 homers in 102 games for the Devil Rays in 2002. He has appeared in 975 minor league games.

Donovan has appeared in 629 career minor league games over the last eight seasons and has batted .268 with 27 home runs, 206 RBIs and 266 stolen bases. He was originally drafted by San Diego.
