New Door Records/UMe recording artist William Tell has landed a highly coveted spot for music featured in promos for the upcoming sixth season of “American Idol.” This is an extremely desirable spot and a major feat for a new artist. Tell’s song “Slipping Under (Sing Along To Your Favorite Song)” will be heard in network promo spots beginning December 12, 2006.
Tell’s debut album “You Can Hold Me Down” will be released on March 6th, 2007 from New Door Records/UMe.
“You Can Hold Me Down’s” ten tracks bring together Tell’s fascination with classic pop and his admiration for the introspective singer-songwriters of the 1970s. The album was produced in part and mixed by Thom Panunzio (producing/engineering credits include Bruce Springsteen, Sheryl Crow, No Doubt, Tom Petty, Aerosmith, U2, and Stevie Nicks). A native Southern Californian, Tell originally gained exposure as part of the popular alt-rock group Something Corporate.
Past winners of television’s No.1 rated series “American Idol,” hosted by Ryan Seacrest, including Kelly Clarkson, Ruben Studdard, Fantasia, and Carrie Underwood, have quickly become top recording stars receiving numerous accolades from the recording industry.
Twenty-two-time Emmy-nominated “American Idol” is created and executive-produced by Simon Fuller, founder of 19 Entertainment, Ltd.; and executive-produced by Cecile Frot-Coutaz, CEO, FremantleMedia North America, Inc.; Nigel Lythgoe, President, 19 Television; and Ken Warwick, Executive Producer, FremantleMedia North America, Inc.
