LEKSAND, Sweden (AP) – Semen Varlamov made 25 saves and Russia beat Switzerland 6-0 on Thursday to retain the Group B lead in the world junior hockey championship.

Ilya Zubov, Alexander Bumagin, Igor Makarov, Evgeni Ryasensky, Artem Anisimov and Vyachelslav Voinov scored for Russia (2-0).

In the other Group B game, Teemu Lakso scored twice to help Finland beat the Czech Republic 6-2 in Mora. Belarus (1-0), Finland (1-1) and Switzerland (1-1) were tied for second with three points, followed by the Czech Republic (0-2).

In Group A in Mora, Patric Hornqvist and Robin Lindqvist scored in a 24-second span in the third period in Sweden’s 6-3 victory over Slovakia. Martin Johansson had two goals for the Swedes, coming off a 2-0 loss to Canada (2-0).

The United States will finish Group A play Saturday against Belarus. The Americans opened with a 2-1 overtime loss to Germany.

, and also dropped a 6-3 decision to Canada.

The group winners will earn spots in the semifinals, while the next two finishers in each group will crossover to meet in the quarterfinals.
