NORWAY – Main Street hasn’t been a good market for clothing sales, therefore women’s clothing shop Lola’s Boutique will shut its doors at the end of the month.

Among other ventures, shop owner Lorrie Bean of Oxford plans to continue sewing vintage-style clothing for children. In her shop, she has several dresses on display, but said she can also make clothing for boys.

Bean opened the store in August 2004. She said she worked for Pick-A-Lily, a clothing and novelty store also on Main Street, and “everyone said this (women’s clothing) is what we needed.”

After more than two years, however, business did not pick up, Bean said.

The last day the store will be open is Jan. 31. Bean said she wants sell the remaining merchandise.

After the store closes, she said she hopes to expand her children’s clothing business by building a Web site.
