POLAND – Andy Allen recorded a double-double with a game-high 16 points and 14 rebounds to lead St. Dom’s to a 60-55 overtime win over Poland in WMC boys’ basketball action Wednesday.

The Saints (4-2) bounced back in the second quarter to take a thin 27-24 lead into the half. Dave Roux tallied 13 points, while Joe Bonneau pitched in with 12 points for St. Dom’s.

Senior guards Tyler Merchant and Mimi Knowles secured 12 points each for Poland.

The Knights (3-4) battled back to tie the game 51-51 at the end of regulation, but the Saints outperformed in the extra frame by a 9-4 margin.

Fryeburg 42, G-NG 34

GRAY – Aaron Kasprak paved the way with 15 points as Fryeburg topped Gray-New Gloucester 42-34 to record its first win Wednesday evening in boys’ basketball action.

Vinnie Osgood added eight points for the Raiders (1-6).

The Patriots (2-5) were led by Josh Levasseur and Evan Kenney with 13 and 12 points, respectively.

Moutain Valley 85, Telstar 18

BETHEL – Andy Shorey had a solid performance with a game-high 19 points as unbeaten Mountain Valley dominated Telstar with an 85-18 victory in an MVC basketball matchup Wednesday.

The Falcons (7-0) jumped out to a 22-3 and 45-6 leads after the first two quarters.

Owen Jones and Justin Staires each added 14 points apiece for Mountain Valley, while Brendan Kreckel chipped in with 10.

James Kimball scored five points for the Rebels (2-6).

Livermore Falls 53, Jay 38

JAY – David Mercier and Mike Durrell each scored 19 points as Livermore Falls beat Jay 53-38 in basketball action.

The Andies (4-3) held only a two-point advantage going into the second half. Stepping up the offensive pressure, they outscored the Tigers (2-6) 27-13 in the latter half of the match to record the win. Zach Keene chipped in with nine points.

Jay was led by Zane Armandi who had 16 points and eight rebounds in the effort.

Monmouth 53, Mt. Abram 46

MONMOUTH – Ronnie Hobson and Dylan Reny shared the game-high 14 points to propel Monmouth to a 53-46 victory over Mt. Abram in MVC boys’ basketball action Wednesday.

The Mustangs (3-4) used a strong third-quarter run to pull ahead of the Roadrunners (2-6) in an otherwise evenly matched contest. Erik Murphy and Devin Robbins performed well on defense for Monmouth.

Chris Smith recorded a team-high 13 points, while Erik Richards provided an additional 10 points for Mt. Abram in the loss.

Hockey

Brunswick 4, Lewiston 0

BRUNSWICK – Kit Smith notched a pair of goals and a pair of assists as Brunswick posted a 4-0 win over Lewiston in a hockey matchup held Wednesday.

Josh Clark and Wes Caparatto each scored for the Dragons (5-2) in the second period.

Lewiston fought hard in the third period, outshooting Brunswick 15-5. Overall, the Blue Devils (2-4) kept Brunswick keeper Ryan Billett busy with 31 shots on goal, while the Dragons finished the contest with 16 shots.

Lisbon 9, G-NG 5

HEBRON – Kevin Laplante dominated on the ice with six goals and three assists to lead the Lisbon hockey team to their first win of the season, 9-5 over Gray-New Gloucestor on Wednesday evening.

Laplante had four unanswered goals to end the first period and start the second period for Lisbon (1-4). Tyler Pomerleau had a goal and three assists, while Nate Lavoie had a goal and two assists. Josh Gosselin notched his first goal of the season with just 23 seconds remaining in the contest.

The Patriots (2-4) were led by Corey Cormier with a pair of goals and assists. Ben Piper and Gardner Lajoie rounded out the scoring for G-NG.

Lawrence 4, EL 1

AUBURN – Lawrence erupted for a pair of goals early in the third period to break the deadlock and skated to a 4-1 victory over Edward Little.

Bill Brewster scored the lone Red Eddies goal at 11:22 of the second period to tie the game at 1-1. But Tim Hersom scored the game-winner at 1:24 of the final period. Josh Mitchell added an insurance goal a minute later.

Adam Loudermilk stopped 24 shots for EL (4-3-1), while Chris Caron recorded 20 saves for Lawrence.

Girls’ basketball

Rangeley 32, Hyde 25

BATH – Angela White had a solid performance with 19 points, seven rebounds, and four steals as Rangeley edged past Hyde to post a 32-25 win in girls’ basketball Wednesday evening.

The Lakers (3-2) jumped out to a 9-2 advantage in the first half and never looked back. Hyde had a strong fourth quarter, outscoring Rangeley 9-4, but two key baskets by Krista Jamison allowed Rangeley to keep the lead and win.

Mahalia Gould poured in 10 points for Hyde (2-1).

Monmouth 42, Mt. Abram 33

MONMOUTH – Three different players scored 10 points each for Monmouth as the Mustangs outran Mt. Abram 42-33 in MVC girls’ basketball action Wednesday.

The Mustangs (5-2) were strong on defense, particularly in the first half, taking an 18-10 lead at the midpoint.

Senior center Cortney Barrett and junior guard Jenn Lola recorded double-doubles for Monmouth with 10 points and rebounds, respectively. Junior point guard Jill Armstrong tallied a team-high five field goals for 10 points.

Senior point guard Logahn Walker notched a game-high 17 points on eight field throws and a free throw for the Roadrunners (5-3).

Lake Region 60, Falmouth 40

NAPLES – Freshman Christina Ricci poured in a game-high 22 points, leading Lake Region to a 60-40 win over Falmouth in girls’ basketball.

Falmouth held the advantage 11-4 after the first quarter, but the Lakers (5-1) came out strong to outscore the Yachtsmen 21-13 in the second quarter. They never fell behind after that. Z.Z. Leighton added 11 points to the win.

Morgan Furman scored 15 points for Falmouth (5-2).
