AUGUSTA – Roy Albert Freudenberg, 60, of Sidney, died Wednesday, Jan. 3, at MaineGeneral Medical Center.

He was born in Pittsburgh, Pa., on May 28, 1946, the son of Albert and Mary Freudenberg. After growing up in Pittsburgh, he entered the U.S. Army, serving as a military policeman. Upon completion of his military service, he started to work for the U.S. Postal Service. He worked in the South Boston Postal Center for 35 years, retiring in 2004. He moved to Sidney, at that time.

He loved to fish and work with his model railroads. He was a collector of World War II German memorabilia and enjoyed World War II reenacting. He also enjoyed family gatherings. He was particularly fond of his dog, “Pebbles.”

He is survived by his wife, Darlene (Wing) Freudenberg; a son, Todd Wing, of Sidney; four daughters, Denise Freudenberg, and her husband, Mark Svirtunas, of Hampden, N.H., Tracy Sergi, and her husband, Richard, of Lynn, Mass., Tenny DiCarlo-Freudenberg and Christine DiCarlo; his uncle, Jean Paul Caron, of Sidney; four grandchildren, Cameron DiCarlo-Freudenberg, Christopher Sergi, Meghan Sergi and Nicole Reiner, along with several cousins in Pittsburgh.
