WATERVILLE – Oak Hill made 10 3-pointers to pick up its first win in two years by edging Waterville, 56-53, in KVAC boys’ basketball action Thursday night.

The Raiders’ (1-8) had lost 37 in a row since beating Belfast, 41-39, on Jan. 7, 2005. Tim Levesque led the Oak Hill barrage with five 3-pointers and 19 points. Ethan Guerette added 11 points and seven assists, and Bronson Drewery had 11 points and 10 rebounds for the Raiders (1-8). Tyler Eaton paced Waterville (0-9) with 20 points.

Girls’ basketball

Waterville 70, Oak Hill 27

WALES – Jen Nale led all scorers with 14 points as Waterville jumped out to a 27-6 first quarter lead and cruised to a 70-27 win over Oak Hill in KVAC girls’ basketball action Thursday night.

Liz Bell contributed 11 points and five assists, and Morgan Frame added 11 points for the unbeaten Panthers (7-0). Ambyr Provost led the Raiders (1-6) with 10 points, seven rebounds and three steals, while Katelyn Wells chipped in with eight points.

Telstar 42, Mountain Valley 38

RUMFORD – Bailey Davis drained five 3-pointers on her way to a game-high 22 points as Telstar downed Mountain Valley, 42-38, in MVC girls’ basketball action Thursday night.

Josie Reiss poured in 16 points for the Telstar effort. Katlin Drury led Mountain Valley (3-4) with 13 points, while Vanessa Cayer added 11 points.

Hockey

Leavitt 2, Gardiner 1

HALLOWELL – Scott Cloutier broke a deadlock early in the second period to lift Leavitt to a 2-1 victory over Gardiner.

After Gardiner scored an early goal, Scott Redmun tied it for the Hornets with 2:18 left in the first period. Richard Thibeault stopped 23 shots for Leavitt (4-4).
