LEWISTON – The city needs people to fill spaces on two citizen committees, one studying combined services with Auburn and a second looking at housing and living issues downtown.

The City Clerk’s Office is accepting applications for both committees through Friday. Applications may be picked up at the City Clerk’s Office or downloaded from the city’s Web site at www.ci.lewiston.me.us.

Lewiston members of the Citizen’s Commission on Lewiston-Auburn Cooperation will work with counterparts from Auburn. The group will work with a joint services coordinator to find money saving ways the two cities can work together.

The Downtown Neighborhood Taskforce will write a master development plan for the city, especially designed for business and residential downtown. The group will also come up with ways to encourage new growth, new housing and boost the area’s spirit.

Questions about either group or other committees should be directed to the City Clerk’s Office, 784-2956, ext. 214.
