RANGELEY – Despite rumors of its downfall and predictions of balmy weather for the foreseeable future, Snodeo will go on as scheduled Jan. 18-20.

“Right now, anything you don’t have to have a sled to do will go on,” Rangeley Lakes Snowmobile Club President Clark Allen said Thursday. “The casino night, the chili chowder cook off, the Welcome to Snodeo party,” he said.

The annual Poker Run can be done by cars, he added, and the town has enough snow stockpiled that arrangements have been made to put snow on the street for the yearly parade, Allen said. Even the fireworks will go on, albeit shot off from land, not the middle of the lake.

Snowmobile club members are getting depressed though, he said. The lack of snow and the warm weather are affecting business and fun, he said.
