JAY – Thomas Knight exploded for 20 points and Mike Holmquist added nine – including a 3-pointer – to lead Dirigo past Jay 52-21 in MVC boys’ hoop action Thursday.

The Cougars (9-0) stifled the Jay offense early, allowing the Tigers (3-8) just six points in the first half.

Rocky DeSanctis led Jay with eight points in the loss.

Mt. Ararat 69, Oxford Hills 59

TOPSHAM – Shawn Dostie erupted for 22 points and hauled down 11 rebounds to propel Mt. Ararat to a 69-59 KVAC victory over Oxford Hills in boys’ basketball Thursday night.

Andrew Pelletier chipped in for the Eagles (7-4) with 11 points, while Aaron Leaver added 10 and recovered seven assists.

The Eagles held a commanding 33-26 advantage at the half and never trailed.

Brandon Moffatt once again paced the Vikings (4-6) with 17 points, while Thomas McGee and Ben Goodall tallied 11 points apiece.

Boothbay 54, Monmouth 36

BOOTHBAY – Roy Arsenault led all players with 19 points and 11 rebounds, lifting Boothbay to a 54-36 win over Monmouth in MVC basketball action Thursday.

Matt Sceviour and Kris Noonan chipped in with 13 points each for the Seahawks (8-1).

Ronnie Hobson led the Mustangs (4-6) with 11 points, while Tyler Somerville chipped in with nine.

Mountain Valley 63, Mt. Abram 12

SALEM – Owen Jones drained 10 baskets and added a pair of free throws for 24 points to lead Mountain Valley to a 63-12 win over Mt. Abram on Thursday.

Andy Shorey added 14 for the Falcons (9-1), who did not allow the Roadrunners (3-7) to score until the second quarter. D.J. Gerrish chipped in 10 points in the win.

Noah Tranton led Mt. Abram with three points on the team’s lone 3-pointer of the game.

Livermore Falls 52, Carrabec 26

NORTH ANSON – Mike Durrell scored 20 points, including 10 in the final quarter, to help Livermore falls pull away for a 52-26 victory over Carrabec.

The Andies (7-3) raced out to a 23-13 advantage by halftime.

Zac Keene added 13 points for the Andies. R.J. Pinkham led Carrabec (1-10) with 10 points.

Rockland 65, Oak Hill 54

ROCKLAND – Teel Ilvonen poured in 19 points, including three 3-pointers, to lead Rockland to a 65-54 win over Oak Hill in KVAC basketball action Thursday.

Nick Baudanza added 16 points for the 4-7 Tigers.

Kim Levesque of Oak Hill led all players with 22 points – including four from beyond the arc – and Kory Vanek added 10 in the loss.

Girls’ basketball

Rockland 47, Oak Hill 28

WALES – Baillie Boggs popped in 14 points and was credited with eight steals as she led Rockland to a 47-28 victory over Oak Hill in a KVAC girls’ basketball matchup Thursday.

Carey Picard chipped in for the Tigers (6-4) with 10 points and 11 rebounds. Rockland jumped out to a 26-12 lead in the first half and was never challenged.

The Raiders (1-8) were paced by Carrie Heyden with an eight-point performance, while Ambyr Provost tallied five and had four steals. Emily Sabine also contributed for Oak Hill with four points and six rebounds.

Oxford Hills 72, Mt. Ararat 42

SOUTH PARIS – Terry Bunce exploded for 21 points Thursday evening to pace Oxford Hills to a 72-42 victory over Mt. Ararat.

The Vikings blew things open with a 25-17 run in the third quarter. Kayla Martin chipped in with 12 points for Oxford Hills, while Alley Fox added 11.

The Eagles were paced by Jessica Stahl with a 13-point performance, while Amelia Lamb tallied eight and Brie Young added seven.
