CONWAY, N.H. – Joe Douglass poured in 30 points and added five assists to lead Poland to a 74-58 triumph over Fryeburg Academy in a boys’ basketball game played at Kennett High School.

The Knights built a 38-34 halftime lead and slowly pulled away in the second half. T.J. England chipped in with 15 points, and B.J. Grondin added 13 points and four steals. Aaron Kasprak led Fryeburg with 21 points.

Lake Region 77, G-NG 58

GRAY – Chris Shane poured in a game-high 28 points as Lake Region had four players in double figures as they Lakers downed Gray-New Gloucester 77-58 in WMC boys’ basketball Saturday.

The Lakers (4-7) made 11 3-pointers, including five from Phil Ellis and a trio from Shane. Ellis also chipped in 19 points in the victory. Senior Josh Levasseur and Jordan Hebert led the Patriots (3-8) with 14 points each while Billy Googins tossed in 13.

Dirigo 83, Madison 28

MADISON – Senior guard Mike Holmquist logged a game-high 21 points as Dirigo sailed to an 83-28 triumph over Madison in MVC boys’ basketball action Saturday.

The Cougars (10-0) pounced on a 30-7 first quarter lead, scoring 10 points in the first one minute of play and grabbing a 51-13 halftime margin. Sophomore center Tom Knight drained seven field goals for 14 points, while Erik Kersey contributed 10 points.

Maranacook 82, Oak Hill 47

WALES – Junior guard Ryan Martin recorded an impressive 26 points as Maranacook cruised to an 82-47 win over Oak Hill in KVAC boys’ basketball action Saturday.

Junior forward Will Bardaglio complimented the scoring with 21 points, 12 in the third quarter for the Black Bears (12-0). Martin tallied 10 points in the first quarter and collected 7-of-9 from the foul line.

Junior forward Bronson Drewry led the Raiders (1-11) with 11 points. Oak Hill had their best quarter in the final frame, outscoring Maranacook 22-18.

Georges Valley 72, Lisbon 53

LISBON – Senior forward Charlie Johnson and junior center Brandon Staples scored 18 points each as Georges Valley coasted to a 72-53 victory over Lisbon in MVC boys’ basketball action Saturday.

The Buccaneers (8-3) took a 40-25 lead at the half. Senior forward Chris Eustis chipped in with 13 points.

Freshman guard Scott Eck notched a team-high 17 pionts for the Greyhounds (0-11), while junior guard Kyle Neagle pitched in with 10 points.

Lisbon recorded 20 steals as a team in the loss.

Hockey

Falmouth 3, Lewiston 0

FALMOUTH – Lewiston struck the post and crossbar several times, but never put the puck past Falmouth goalie C.J. Fortier in a 3-0 defeat.

After a scoreless first period, Emmitt Brennan and Cam Hart scored for Falmouth in the second period. James Tolan added an insurance goal in the opening minute of the third. Lewiston goalie Dylan Labonte recorded 17 saves.

Girls’ basketball

Oak Hill 38, Maranacook 21

READFIELD – Sophomore guard Ambyr Provost scored 12 points, eight rebounds and six assists to lead Oak Hill to a 38-21 triumph over Maranacook in KVAC girls’ basketball action Saturday.

The Raiders (2-8) jumped out to an early 12-2 lead and stayed on top throughout the contest.

Junior forwards Emily Sabine and Ashley Delaney recorded identical scoring tallies with four field goals apiece. The Black Bears (0-10) were paced by Chelsey Freeman with four field goals for eight points and Brittany Myles with three field goals and a pair from the line for another eight points.
