Worm Lady wriggles back for workshop

AUBURN – The Auburn Public Library Children’s Department has announced that the Worm Lady, Cindy Petherbridge, will return to present another worm farm indoor composting program. The workshop will be offered at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 20, in the Auburn Public Library children’s programming room on the main floor.

Participants will learn how beneficial worms can be in breaking down kitchen garbage, even newsprint, to make a composting medium for use with houseplants or in gardens.

Each registrant will make a small temporary composting unit, including worms, to take home and will learn how to maintain it.

Children are invited to join the group to learn why worm composting can be a way to promote healthy snacking and eating. Feeding the worm bin to reduce household waste can be a healthy and ecological activity for the entire family.

The free workshop is best suited for children in first grade and older. All materials will be provided by the library. Registration is required. Reserve a spot by visiting or telephoning the library at 333-6640, ext. 3.
