GORHAM – Ashley Marble scored 26 points and had 15 rebounds to pace the University of Southern Maine to an 83-63 win over Plymouth St. in women’s basketball action on Tuesday.

The Huskies (14-1) built a 46-30 lead in the opening half.

Stacey Kent added 18 points.

Plymouth St. got 16 points from Meghan MacDonald and 11 from Annie Alosa.

Colby 66, Gordon 44

WATERVILLE – Alison Cappelloni finished with 19 points, nine rebounds and two blocked shots to pace Colby to a 66-44 win over Gordon.

Katie McCabe added 16 points on 7-for-10 shooting and had eight rebounds and six assists for Colby (3-10) .

Tracy Nale had 10 points, while Tanya Rosbash contributed six points and six assists.

Gordon (3-11) got 12 points from Amy Dodd.

Men’s basketball
Bates 89, St. Joseph’s 80

STANDISH – Pat Halloran scored 24 points to lead Bates College to an 89-80 win over St. Joe’s.

Halloran had six 3-pointers for the Bobcats (12-2). Bates also got 17 points from Bryan Wholey and 14 points, nine rebounds and seven assists from Zak Ray. St. Joe’s (9-5) got 27 from Chad Pulkkinen, while Elbie Murphy added 19.

USM 81, Plymouth St. 74

GORHAM – Josh Daniels scored 26 points while three other also scored in double figures as the University of Southern Maine beat Plymouth St. 81-74.

Drew Coppenrath chipped in 15 while Nick Gooding and Charlie O’Neill had 12 and 10, respectively.

Plymouth St. got 20 from Devin Ruocco while Ben Huntington added 12.

Husson 79, Thomas 35

WATERVILLE – Martin Cleveland scored 18 points to lead Husson College to a 79-35 win over Thomas.

Tyler Muzzy added 14 and Brock Bradford chipped in 10 for Husson. Thomas was led by Adam Rich with 11 points.

Maine 70, UMBC 56

ORONO – Kevin Reed scored 18 points, including 13 in the second half, to lead Maine over Maryland-Baltimore County 70-56.

The Black Bears (7-11, 2-4 America East) used a 17-4 run midway through the second half to take control with their biggest lead of the night, 61-39. The Retrievers (6-12, 2-3) trailed by double digits the rest of the way.

Brian Hodges scored 26 points for UMBC but was held without a basket in the final 10 minutes. Thomas Young added 13 for the Retrievers.

Maines Jon Sheets scored 11 of his 17 points in the first half as the Black Bears jumped out to an early lead and never trailed. The Retrievers drew no closer than seven points at the start of the second half before Maine pulled away.
