YMCA teens ‘locked-in’

AUBURN – The Auburn-Lewiston YMCA Teen Center hosted a “Lock-In” from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. on Dec. 29. Teens participated in such activities as balloon roulette, jelly bean sorting, running an obstacle course, a two-on-two basketball tournament, video game tournaments, swimming and game shows such as Deal or No Deal and Jeopardy.

The teens competed for points throughout the evening. The top five scorers were Adam Lerette, 2,650; Dustin Caron, 2,250; Wayde Awalt, 2,050; Keith Tremblay, 2,025; and Nathan Vining, 2,000.

The “Lock-In” was successful, and the Teen Center will have more special events with the help of the Teen Center Leaders Club. The Leaders Club is made up of teens interested in planning and coordinating center events.

The center is a free, fun, safe, well-supervised place for teens to hang out. They offer a game room with pool, ping-pong, foosball and air hockey, a snack bar, board games, TV, open gym and swimming. There is always something going on from club meetings to tournaments and movie nights.

To signup for the Teen Center, visit the YMCA and sign the code of conduct. The Teen Center is open Monday through Friday. A calendar of events is available at the center or at the YMCA’s Web site, www.alymca.com.
