AUBURN – Georgette B. Lavoie, 79, of Lewiston, died Saturday, Jan. 20, at the Androscoggin Hospice Home.

She was born in Lewiston on Feb. 21, 1927, the daughter of Adelard and Alice Bergeron Landry.

She attended Lewiston schools and on April 19, 1950, she married Armand V. Lavoie at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church. He died June 9, 1994.

She worked for many years at Holy Family School’s hot lunch program and later at Speekers Bakery and Italian Bakery in Lewiston. She was a Parishioner of Holy Family Church, The Ladies of Ste. Anne’s Sodality, the Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary Council No. 106, Lewiston Senior Citizens and the Holy Cross Senior Citizens. Among her interests were cooking, baking, bowling, playing cards and taking bus trips to Canada and the casinos.

She is survived by her three sons, Richard G. and his wife, Fe Lavoie, of Lewiston, Bertrand P. and his wife, Sharon Lavoie, of Roanoke, Va., and Jean Paul and his wife, Leone Lavoie, of South Portland; six sisters, Theresa Jean of Lewiston, Fernande Hamann and husband, Phillip, of Lewiston, Juliette Bannister of Auburn, Jeanne Lessard and her husband, Fernand, of Lewiston, Germaine Marquis of Auburn, and Pauline Cashman and her husband, John, of York; 10 grandchildren, Ryan St. Laurent, Jill Roberts, Jeffrey Caya, Emily and Bryan Lavoie, Jacob, James and Kailyn Lavoie, and Paulita and Melissa Bouchard; two great-grandchildren, Sophia St. Laurent and Shawn Michael McCaroll.

She was predeceased by one sister, Claudette Robert; eight brothers, the Rev. Armand, Phillip, Roger, Bertrand, Herve, Laurier, Roland, and Raymond Landry; and one grandson, Shawn Robert Bouchard.

The family wishes to extend a sincere thank you to the compassionate staff at Marshwood Center for Health and Rehabilitation, and the Androscoggin Hospice Home in Auburn.
