We are a non-profit organization supported entirely by contributions of time, labor, material and money. We are dedicated to repairing homes of those who, due to financial hardship, age, and/or disability, cannot do the work themselves. Skilled and unskilled volunteers, along with able-bodied members of the recipient’s family and friends, complete the repairs at no cost to the homeowner. Dear Sun Spots: You are such good detectives and hope you can find out something for me. There is a beautiful old Victorian house on Fairview Avenue in Auburn. I used to stop and gaze at it when it was weathered and gray and falling apart, apparently abandoned, and pray that someone would save that house. Well, someone has saved it. It is now a stunning house, beautifully restored. There are retaining walls along both sides of the street as well. Who is responsible for the restoration, and how is the house being used now? Dear Sun Spots: I am collecting hard cover books, especially Stephen King and first editions to sell on eBay to raise money to help the homeless of Maine and also the very poor families in southern and central Maine.
