DURHAM – A Durham teen escaped with only scrapes and bruises Wednesday afternoon when he lost control of his car while passing a pickup truck on Quaker Meetinghouse Road.

Maine State Police Trooper Marvin Hinkley declined to release the identities of either driver, both 16, because of their ages.

Trooper Hinkley said both boys were driving in a westerly direction. The driver of the car lost control of his vehicle when he attempted to pass the pickup truck, rolled over and went off the road, struck a tree, then bounced back onto the road, landing on its roof.

The 1996 Dodge Intrepid was demolished in the 3 p.m. mishap which remains under investigation, Hinkley said.
