LEWISTON – Representatives of the Central Maine Fertility Center and Boston IVF will discuss “Treating Infertility with Assisted Reproductive Technologies” at a presentation set for next week at Central Maine Medical Center.
The Tuesday, Jan. 30, presentation will begin at 6:30 p.m. and will be held in the Chairmen’s Rooms on the lower level of the 12 High Street Medical Office Building.
Dr. Michael T. Drouin, an infertility specialist and gynecologist who practices at the Women’s Specialty Center in Lewiston, and Dr. Alan S. Penzias, surgical director of the Surgery Center of Waltham, Mass., a division of Boston IVF, will be speakers.
Recently the Central Maine Fertility Center and Boston IVF announced an expanded clinical association that allows couples to obtain advanced fertility services in the Lewiston-Auburn area.
A graduate of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, Penzias earned his medical degree from the State University of New York Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn, N.Y.
He completed his residency training with the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Beth Israel Hospital in Boston, and served a fellowship in reproductive endocrinology and infertility at the Yale University School of Medicine. He also studied at the Center for Advanced Training in Cell and Molecular Biology at the Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C.
Penzias is an experienced medical educator who has numerous honors for academic excellence. He belongs to a host of professional organizations.
Drouin, a long-time member of the greater Lewiston-Auburn medical community, has been instrumental in introducing a number of leading-edge women’s health care services, including fertility services, to the central and western Maine region.
He earned his medical degree from St. Louis University School of Medicine in St. Louis and completed residencies at Women and Infants’ Hospital of Rhode Island and Rhode Island Hospital Obstetrics and Gynecology Program.
