Dear Sun Spots: I am a disabled Vietnam Veteran who was receiving therapy at the Togus wood shop until it closed. I continue to carve for therapy on my own and have a large band saw to prepare my wood for carving.

But I need help to change my blade, for this overwhelms me and prevents me from carving. What I need is someone to show me how to change the blade. I just can’t do this by myself. I carve at 230 Lisbon St., Lewiston. My home phone is 782-4227. – Evariste Bisson, Lewiston.

Answer: In addition to responses from readers, you might want to inquire with the wood and tool stores where you buy your supplies. It’s possible someone there, maybe a fellow wood-worker, might be able to walk you through the steps involved or better yet, visit your shop with you and show you how to change the blade.

Dear Sun Spots: While cleaning out the attic I found copies of the Honolulu Advertiser dated August 15, 1945, telling of the Japanese surrender. According to the WCSH 6 Web site bio, Kathleen Shannon returned to News Center and Maine in September 2003 to co-anchor “207,” a 7 p.m. magazine show.

Shannon previously anchored News Center’s weekend morning and noon newscasts, and was a reporter at the station from 1995 to 1999.

She has an extensive news background, including anchoring and reporting for KSTP-TV in Minneapolis from 1999 to August of 2003, and field producing for five years at KNSD in San Diego.

Her main areas of focus are politics, the economy and in-depth interviews. She also attended the Poynter Institute’s Power Reporting Seminar in the spring of 2000.

She was born in Somerville, N.J., and has lived all over the United States but considers Maine her true home. She has a bachelor of arts degree in journalism and politics from New York University. She runs, reads and fly-fishes with her husband in her spare time.

Dear Sun Spots: Some time back, someone who wrote Sun Spots was giving away a tin man armor to whoever might want it.
