CHULA VISTA, Calif. – Olympian Kevin Eastler made his 50-kilometer walk debut a memorable one, earning a victory Sunday at the first stop of the USA Race Walking Grand Prix, the 2007 USA 50 km Championships in Chula Vista, Calif.

The Mt. Blue High School graduate’s winning time of 4:09:56, gave him the IAAF B standard for the distance. The 30-km race walk record holder and reigning 20-km champion topped two-time Olympian Phillip Dunn (4:09:54) by nearly four minutes. John Nunn, a 2004 Olympian, finished third (4:14:16), followd by Ray Sharp (4:26:07) and three-time Olympian Curt Clausen (4:27:41).

The event served to select athletes who will represent the United States at the Pan American Cup of Race Walking in Brazil and the IAAF World Championships in Japan.
