RUMFORD – Black Mountain of Maine will hold homecoming events Friday and Saturday, Feb. 2 and 3. The weekend schedule is as follows:


All evening, 50/50 raffle sales; 6 p.m., special dinner; 7 p.m., open mic/jam night; 9:30 p.m., 50/50 raffle drawing.


Afternoon, silent auction, 50/50 raffle sales and Black Mountain Family Movies; morning, TBA, ski lessons; 11 a.m., family Nordic race; 2 p.m., family Alpine race; 4 p.m., kid’s magic show by magician Scot Grassette; 6 p.m., chicken pie and lasagna dinner; 8 to 11 p.m., dance to DJs Scot and Cindy Grassette; 9 p.m., 50/50 raffle drawing; 9:30 p.m., silent auction wrap-up

The mountain will open at 9 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 4. At 1 p.m. there will be a Maine Ski Challenge and weekly Alpine race.

The operations crew is on-target to have the summit open for the weekend.

“We still can’t absolutely promise that the summit will be open, but this is our goal, and right now it is achievable,” said Operations Manager Bob Chase. Chase said snowmaking is off-line for a few days to give the snowmaking pond time to recover before the final push up the mountain.
