FARMINGTON – Caitlyn Laflin scored a game-high 18 points and Kari Simpson added 17 to lead the University of Maine at Farmington to a 76-48 win over Colby in women’s basketball.

The win extended the Beavers’ (16-3) winning streak to nine games and 13 wins in their last 14 outings.

UMF ended the first half with a 10-2 run that produced a 32-19 lead. The Beavers pushed the advantage to 52-32 in the season half.

Stephanie Bossie added 11 points for UMF. Colby (5-14) got 13 points and six rebounds from Lauren Duval while Alison Cappelloni added 12 points and eight boards

USM 70, Husson 57

GORHAM – Angela Santa Fe scored 16 points and Ashley Marble chipped in 14 to lead the University of Southern Maine to a 70-57 win over Husson College on Wednesday.

Marble also had 14 rebounds for the Huskies (18-1). Husson (7-11) got 12 from Carmen Ballard and 11 each from Chere Wickstrom and Jenny Rollins.

Men’s basketball

Colby 70, UMF 53

FARMINGTON – Colby College produced a 22-2 run in the final 11 minutes of action Wednesday to pull away from the University of Maine at Farmington for a 70-53 win in men’s basketball.

Colby trailed 45-42 with 11:09 left, but back-to-back jumpers from Nick Farrell put the Mules ahead for good with 8:12 left.

Farrell had a game-high 23 points while Drew Cohen added 20 points and 12 rebounds. UMF was led by Isaac Hutchinson with 12, and Ted Neil added 11.

BU 66, Maine 55

ORONO – Tyler Morris scored 19 points while Carlos Strong and Scott Brittain added 15 and 13 points respectively in a 66-55 Boston University win over Maine in men’s basketball Wednesday.

BU (8-12) trailed 35-33 at the half but outscored Maine 33-20 in the second half.

The Black Bears (10-12) were paced by Phil Tchekane Bofia with 12 and Chris Bruff with 11.
