AUBURN – Jacki Moors dominated the paint to the tune of 23 points and 17 rebounds Thursday evening, launching Central Maine Community College to a 68-38 victory over Unity.

Tiffany Seams scored 21 points and Kerri Harris 11 for the Mustangs, who improved to 7-6 in the Yankee Small College Conference. CMCC led 41-21 at the half. Kelly Young produced a game-high 25 points for Unity (2-11), including three 3-pointers.

Wentworth 67, UNE 61

BIDDEFORD – Reserve forward Mindy Thomas of Turner scored a team-high 16 points for Wentworth Institute of Technology off the bench, leading the Leopards past the University of New England, 67-61, in a Commonwealth Coast Conference women’s basketball game Thursday.

Emily Cring added 15 points for Wentworth (8-11). Marissa Hesketh scored 16 of her career-high 22 points in the first half for UNE (8-11).

Men’s basketball

CMCC 94, Unity 52

AUBURN – Central Maine Community College sank 10 3-pointers and placed five players in double figures Thursday evening in a 94-52 men’s basketball rout of Unity College.

Kaleb Violette led CMCC (18-8) with 24 points and 16 rebounds. Jon Gilson added 17 points and five of the 3-pointers. Dave LaBonte chipped in 13 points, while Ngoni Ditima and Matt Wheelock each tacked on 12.

Jared Erskine paced Unity (1-14) with 16 points. Brandon Coones added 11 and Ned Girard 10.

Bowdoin 69, Babson 60

BRUNSWICK – Andrew Hippert scored a team-high 20 points to help Bowdoin protect its lead throughout the second half of a 69-60 men’s basketball victory Thursday over Babson.

Hippert was joined in double figures by Kevin Bradley with 14 and Jordan Fliegel with 13, while Kyle Jackson had seven points, 10 rebounds and four steals for the Polar Bears. Zach Etten scored a game-high 22 points for Babson (12-8).
