LISBON FALLS – Monmouth Academy outscored Lisbon 15-4 from the free-throw line on its way to a 38-31 MVC girls’ basketball victory Thursday night.

Brittany Scirica scored five of her game-high 10 points from the charity stripe for the Mustangs (13-3). Jen Lola added eight points and 13 rebounds. Monmouth led 11-4 after one quarter and 20-10 at the half.

Emily Moore topped the Greyhounds (7-9) with eight points.

Madison 62, Livermore Falls 48

LIVERMORE FALLS – Livermore Falls jumped out to an early lead, but ran out of steam in a 62-48 loss to Madison.

The Andies (8-8) raced out to a 20-18 lead after the first quarter, but only scored 28 points the rest of the game. Livermore Falls took a hit when starting guard Missy O’Connor injured her knee in the first quarter and did not return.

Margo Russell led Madison with 18 points and Jessica Hayden added 12. Caryn Howell and Marjorie DeBrosky paced the Andies with 16 and 13 points.

Hyde 39, Hebron 25

BATH – Hyde School shut out Hebron Academy in the first quarter and rolled to a 39-25 Class D girls’ basketball triumph Thursday.

Mahalia Gauld led Hyde (12-1) with 12 points. The Phoenix soared to a 16-0 lead after one quarter and enjoyed a whopping 31-4 advantage at the half. Sara Powers spurred Hebron (7-6) with eight points.

Cony 64, Lewiston 35

AUGUSTA – Cony held Lewiston to five points in the first half and cruised to a 64-35 KVAC girls’ basketball win Thursday.

Kristi Violette led Cony (14-2) with 16 points. Eleven different players scored for the Rams, including Ashley Pratt with eight points. Cony led 27-2 after one quarter.

Amie Daniels played an outstanding all-around game for the Blue Devils (0-16) with 10 points, nine rebounds and five assists.

Rangeley 39, Gould 20

BETHEL – Angela White scored a career-high points and also tore down 10 rebounds to lead Rangeley past Gould, 39-20, in a Class D girls’ basketball contest.

Hayley White also helped out on the boards with seven rebounds for the Lakers (12-4), while Sam Olivieri sparked the defense with seven steals. Rangeley used a 15-6 run in the third quarter to build on its 16-10 halftime lead. Chelsea O’Brien paced the Huskies (8-7) with eight points.

Mt. Abram 59, Carrabec 31

NORTH ANSON – Kenni Norton scored 16 points Thursday night as Mt. Abram cruised to a 59-31 win over Carrabec.

Brittany York turned in 12 points for the Roadrunners (11-6), who enjoyed a 16-6 lead after one period and expanded it throughout the evening. Erica French powered the Cobras (1-15) with 10 points.

Dirigo 46, Mtn. Valley 19

RUMFORD – Leading by a single point at halftime, undefeated Dirigo overwhelmed Mountain Valley 24-0 in the third quarter Thursday and eased to a 46-19 .

The Cougars (16-0) cashed in numerous steals courtesy of their halfcourt trap, leading to easy buckets by Shannon Daley and Katie Hutchinson. Each scored eight points in the period. Daley finished with 16 points, while Hutchinson had 11.

Vanessa Cayer topped the Falcons (7-9) with seven points. Mountain Valley led 8-4 after the first quarter and trailed only 14-13 at the break.

Boys’ basketball

Livermore Falls 51, Madison 41

MADISON – Davis Mercier scored eight of his game-high 18 points in the decisive third quarter to send Livermore Falls to a 51-41 triumph over Madison.

Madison (1-16) held a 19-17 halftime lead, but the Andies (10-6) went on a 19-5 run to seize control. Mike Durrell chipped in with 12 points and Zach Keene had 10 points.

Simon Elias led Madison with 14 points.
