LISBON FALLS – The Lisbon Historical Society met Jan. 10 at the Archive Museum’s meeting room. Officers for 2007 and 2008 were chosen: President, Alfred L. Smith; vice president, Debra C. Daggett; secretary and curator, Dorothy J. Smith; treasurer and assistant archivist, Wilford (Bill) Barr.

An antiques night was held with many bringing items for viewing such as a World War II era deck of playing cards with photos of airplanes; a stereoscopic viewer with photo cards; a fence nail puller; a Doan’s pill container; a green colored metal 1950s Admiral television set; and a pair of pink and blue baby rattles.

A social time with refreshments was held after the meeting.

The society’ will meet again at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 14, Valentine’s Day. The speaker will be Bill Barr, born Feb. 14, 1927, in Indiana, who will be celebrating his 80th birthday. His talk is titled “80 Years Ago in Lisbon, and Changes that have Happened During the Past 80 Years.”

Members and guests are being asked to wear the color red to the meeting if they would like to be entered into the Valentine’s Day drawing. Everyone is also being reminded to bring a “homemade Valentine” to share with a member or guest via a numbers game to be held during the meeting. A social will follow the meeting.

Meetings are held at the Lisbon Historical Society Archive Museum MTM Center, 18 School St., rooms 5 and 6, rear entry. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the meeting starts at 7.
