POLAND – Joe Douglass rolled up 24 points, 10 rebounds and five steals Thursday to propel Poland over Sacopee Valley, 65-57, in a WMC boys’ basketball finale.

Mimi Knowles added 11 points, seven rebounds and six steals for the Knights (7-11), who expect to play in a Western Class B preliminary round road game next week. Douglass and Knowles combined for 13 points in the third period, when Poland enjoyed a 25-8 run.

Sean Foster topped the Hawks (4-14) with 16 points and 10 rebounds. Blais Whitney added 12 points.

Waterville 54, Oak Hill 45

WALES – Tyler Eaton led all players with 19 points and Paul Johnston added 12 more to lead Waterville to a 54-45 KVAC basketball victory over Oak Hill.

Tim Levesque led the Raiders (1-17) with 13 points, including three from beyond the arc, and Ethan Guerette chipped in wth 11.

The Purple Panthers (3-15) pulled away in the second half after the two teams entered halftime knotted at 28.

Mt. Blue 74, Skowhegan 34

FARMINGTON – Art Trask poured in 21 points in his final home game to lead Mt. Blue in a 74-34 KVAC boys’ basketball romp over Skowhegan.

Ben Russell added 14 points, Noah Paytas 13 and Mike Toothaker 10 for the Cougars (15-3), who secured the No. 3 seed in the upcoming Eastern Class A tournament and await a quarterfinal game on Feb. 17 at Augusta Civic Center. Mt. Blue used a 27-9 gain in the second quarter to open a 36-13 halftime advantage.

Paul Verville paced the Indians (3-15) with nine points. Jordan Taylor added eight.

Rangeley 78, GPC 32

FALMOUTH – David Raymond poured in 19 points and David Jensen added 16 to power Rangeley to a 78-32 victory over Greater Portland Christian.

The Lakers (8-10) jumped out a 22-2 advantage after the first quarter and 42-9 at the break. Devon Sargent chipped in with 15 points and Quinn Philbrick had 12. Derek Green led GPC with 11 points.

Leavitt 69, Oxford Hills 61

TURNER – Cam Angell and Matt Nash hit for 16 points each to lead the Leavitt Hornets to a regular-season-ending 69-61 win over Oxford Hills on Thursday.

The Hornets (9-9) came from as far behind as nine points in the first quarter – and five back in the fourth – to pull out the win.

Ben Goodall led the Vikings (5-13) with 16 points, and Tom McGee and Ethan Sutton registered nine each in the loss.

Telstar 68, Lisbon 34

BETHEL – Max Meader registered a double-double with 16 points and 13 rebounds and Ryan Kimball led all players with 18 points to lead Telstar to a 68-34 win over Lisbon in the teams’ final game of the MVC regular season Thursday.

Andy Whitney and Louis Thornton each had 10 for the Rebels (8-10).

Tim Roy led the Greyhounds with 15 points, and Kyle Neagle chipped in with seven.

Booth. 71, Monmouth 30

MONMOUTH – Boothbay scored the first 14 points of the game Thursday in a 71-30 MVC boys’ basketball win over Monmouth.

Eleven different players scored for the Seahawks (16-2), led by Kris Noonan with 13 points and Owen Johnson with 12. Nate Armstrong and Dylan Reny each registered seven points for the Mustangs (6-12).

Dirigo 77, Jay 38

DIXFIELD – Thomas Knight and Mike Holmquist each scored 18 points and combined for 11 steals Thursday to drive Dirigo over Jay, 77-38, in MVC boys’ basketball.

Knight also led the Cougars (17-1) with seven rebounds. Spencer Berry stuffed the stat sheet with 13 points, six steals, three assists and two blocks, and Josh Daley produced 10 points, four assists and four swipes. Austin Clark led Jay (5-13) with 19 points.

Liv. Falls 40, Carrabec 31

LIVERMORE FALLS – Mike Durrell poured in 12 points and hauled in 13 rebounds to lead Livermore Falls to a 40-31 win over visiting Carrabec in MVC basketball action Thursday.

Davis Mercier added 11 more for the Andies (12-6), who ralled in the fourth quarter to earn their 12th win of the season.

Nick Manzer led the Cobras (2-16) with 12 points in the loss.

Traip 58, St. Dom’s 47

KITTERY – Tyler Metevier scored nine of his 12 points in the fourth quarter Thursday, helping Traip overcome a four-point deficit and pull away for a 58-47 WMC boys’ basketball win over St. Dom’s.

Isaiah Plummer scored 13 points to lead the Rangers (12-6). Andre Plummer added 12. Metevier nailed two 3-pointers and three free throws down the stretch to push Traip over the top.

Andy Allen led the Saints (13-5) with 11 points and eight rebounds. Aaron Allen tacked on 10 points. Both teams will host a Western Class C preliminary game next Wednesday.

Mtn. Val. 58, Mt. Abram 13

RUMFORD – Andy Shorey led three different Falcons in double figures with 14 points to lead Mountain Valley to a decisive 58-13 win over Mt. Abram in the teams’ MVC finale Thursday.

Justin Staires chipped in with 12 points, including two 3-pointers, and Owen Jones added 11 for the Falcons (15-3).

Chris Smith led the Roadrunners, who scored just one point in the fourth quarter, (6-12) with five points, and Wyatt Johnson followed up with three in the loss.

Hockey

Poland-GNG 10, South Portland 5

PORTLAND – Cory Cormier chalked up five goals Thursday, including a pair of short-handed tallies, and powered Poland/Gray-New Gloucester to a 10-5 Class A hockey triumph over South Portland.

Ben Piper added two goals and an assist for the Patriotic Knights, who led 3-1 after the first period and 6-2 at the second intermission, Sean Bilodeau tended the net for Poland/GNG (8-9). Nick Furnwalt delivered four goals for the Red Riots (3-13).
