CARRABASSETT VALLEY – Singer/songwriter John Hiatt – whose compositions have been covered by dozens of artists, including Bob Dylan, Bonnie Raitt, B.B. King and Eric Clapton – will make his only New England winter concert appearance at Sugarloaf/USA Saturday, Feb. 24.

This solo acoustic performance is the February installment of the Bud Light Concert Series, which brings nationally renowned performers to Sugarloaf monthly throughout the winter season.

“John’s music meshes perfectly with the widely diverse community of Sugarloafers, and our relatively small venue means the audience will be up close and personal with him,” said Karen Greene of Sugarloaf.

Born in Indianapolis, Hiatt began playing guitar at age 11. His songs are known for their finely rendered details, the subtle blend of humor and pathos, and the unpredictable yet instantly memorable melodies.

His performance will include songs on many of his 21 albums, including his latest CD, “Master of Disaster,” which is said to simultaneously celebrate and update rock ‘n’ roll in a manner that won’t be particularly surprising to any child of the ’50s.

Hiatt journeyed to Memphis for this recording, joining forces with venerable producer Jim Dickinson and his sons, Cody and Luther, who comprise two-thirds of the radical roots-blues/rockers the North Mississippi Allstars.

“Jim’s sons, Luther and Cody, brought in that youthful assertiveness, that rocking feeling, and Jim and I were the old guys, just grabbing hold to the grooves they were laying down and doing something else with them,” Hiatt said in a press release.

Tickets are $45 and $35 for gold and silver circle seating; $25 for general admission. This event is expected to sell out in advance of the day of the show. This is a 21+ event, and proper ID is required.

Ski-and-stay packages for the concert weekend are available for $99 per person, per night. For tickets and/or lodging reservations, call 1-800-THE-LOAF, or go online to sugarloaf.com.
