AUBURN – The Corporate and Community Services Department at Central Maine Community College will offer computer classes in Excel, PowerPoint and QuickBooks.

“Excel Basic” (CPT 013-01) will be offered from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 6. The cost of the class is $105 and includes materials. The course will teach the basic functions and features of Excel 2003. Students will learn how to enter and edit data, labels and formulas, work with functions, format cells, print worksheets and create charts.

“Introduction to PowerPoint” (CPT 017-01) will be offered from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 7. The cost of $105 includes materials. The course covers creating and modifying presentations; using proofing tools; inserting and modifying objects; using clip art; creating and inserting charts and tables. The guided, step-by-step lab provides opportunities to practice.

The classes will be taught by Stacy Dostie, owner of Design Matters Creative Services and the PC Wiz Computer Training.

“Introduction to QuickBooks” (CPT 059-22) will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. on four consecutive Tuesdays, March 6 through 27. The cost of t$205 includes materials. Participants will learn how to set up an accounting system for a company, manage accounts payable and accounts receivable, create invoices and bill customers, print checks, and create financial statements. Students must have a basic understanding of Windows.

The class will be taught by Jim Boucher, president of Boucher Consulting, focusing on increasing productivity through the utilization of current systems and resources. He has more than 15 years of experience in managerial accounting and software consulting positions in companies in manufacturing, retail distribution and education environments.
