SOUTH PARIS – Mountain Valley (3) captured the post-season championship in the Boys Division of the Western Maine Youth Basketball League (Grades 5-6) during the weekend, outlasting Lewiston Rec (2) 47-41 in the title game.

The champs got well-balanced scoring led by Dylan Akers with 13 points. Ryan Nichols and Adam Volkernick added 12 each. Also contributing were Tyler Smith (6), Jacob Theriault (4) and Will Cunningham (2). Ryan Rossignol led Lewiston with 12. Steven Patrie and Adam Poliquin added 10 each. Josh Thomas netted 5 and Donny Agossou 4.

In semifinal action, MV eliminated Farmington (1) 52-33 as Akers collected 15 points. Volkernick and Theriault added 8 each. Chad Luker led Farmington with 10. Cam Abbott added 6.

Lewiston Rec edged Oxford Hills (4) 38-35 in the other semifinal tilt.
