NEWRY – The Black Diamond Family Entertainment Series will bring The Dirty Sock Funtime Band – a rock band for kids – back for an encore Nickelodeon concert Tuesday, Feb. 27, at Sunday River Ski Resort. It will also conjure up master magician George Saterial Saturday, March 3.

The Dirty Sock Funtime Band fuses funk, catchy kids’ rock, reggae, rock, electronica, hip hop, back porch folk and psychedelia into its own unique sounds. Not to mention its concoction of silly, imaginative, visual lyrics.

The Dirty Sock Funtime Band emerged from Kids Creative, a nonprofit organization that fosters confidence, creativity and conflict resolution through arts-education programs. Within two months of the band’s first public appearance, it appeared on FOX, NBC, CBS and UPN and was nominated Best New Band on the Children’s Music Web Awards (the only music awards chosen by kids in more than 500 classrooms around the world).

Band members are regulars on the acclaimed “Jack’s Big Music Show,” aired by Nickelodeon, Nick Jr. and Noggin. They have released two albums: “The Search and Rescue of Genius Backpack” and “Mr. Clown and the Day the Sun Got Wet.”

Saterial is magic’s only two-time Gold Medal of Excellence champion. He merges a truly original concept with classic style, an obsession with perfection, charisma, and tireless practice and work.

His award-winning routine is titled “Timeless Magic,” as time literally seems to stand still when this classically inspired piece is set in motion. Set at the spellbinding hour of midnight, the illusion routine involves candles, handkerchiefs and doves that magically appear and disappear. It’s a harmonious merger of theatrical, technical and creative abilities.

Both shows begin at 7 p.m. in the Grand Ballroom of the Grand Summit Resort Hotel. Tickets for these family events are $4 for children (6-12) and $6 for adults in advance, or $6/$8 at the door. Tickets may be purchased on the mountain or at Books N Things in Bethel. For more information, call (207) 824-3575.
