AUBURN – The 12th annual Tom Magno Memorial Ski Race is scheduled for Saturday, March 3 at Lost Valley Ski Area.

The race, sponsored by the Auburn Ski Association, is a tribute to the late Edward Little skier. Magno captained the 1967 Red Eddie team. That year, EL won both the Maine and New England High School Championship. An outstanding competitor, Magno was the state ski jumping champ, as well as Nordic combined king. He was chosen to be a member of the U.S. Junior National Team and finished second in ski jumping at the national championships.

The Magno Race is a fun, family-oriented event. Participants of all ages and abilities are encouraged to take part, especially those who were teammates and friends of Tom Magno. At the conclusion of the two-run giant slalom race, prizes will be awarded to the top three finishers in each age group.

A barbecue will be held in front of the base lodge.

Skiers can register at Lost Valley between 9-10:30 a.m. on the day of the race. Runs through the course will be taken anytime between 10:30 and 1:00. Entry fee is $15. It includes a lift ticket valid from 10:00 to 2:00.
