CAPE ELIZABETH – Shaine Burks scored 12 of his 13 points during a 32-point first-quarter explosion as Cape Elizabeth roared to a 79-56 victory over Poland in the preliminary-round of the Western Class B boys’ basketball tournament.
Poland played the Capers fairly even the rest of the way, but could not overcome the 32-8 hole after one quarter.
Joe Douglass led the Knights with 23 points.
Alex Bowie led Cape Elizabeth’s balanced attack with 14 points.
