Wilton (2) edged Oxford Hills (1) 33-31 in overtime to capture the post-season championship during the weekend in the Girls Division of the Western Maine Youth Basketball League (Grades 5-6). It was the only loss of the season for OH (10-1).

It was an exciting championship contest as neither team had more than a 5-point lead. Abby Eastman’s 3-pointer at the buzzer tied the game for OH and sent it into overtime. Wilton (10-1) outscored its foe 4-2 in the extra session.

Amy Hilton led the champs with 11 points. Colleen Stauder netted 14 for the Hillers.

Wilton advanced to the finals with a 26-19 victory over North Franklin (3) in a semifinal tilt. Hilton again led with 11 points. Miranda Smith paced Franklin with 7.

Oxford Hills ousted Farmington (4) 27-20 in the other semifinal game as Eastman tallied 9 points. Abby Lochala collected 5 for Farmington.

In preliminary action, Livermore Falls (9) edged Bridgton (8) 26-25 in an overtime thriller. Taylor Boynton (13) and Emily Keene (9) sparked LF. Hannah Somers scored 8 for Bridgton.

AYS (7) eliminated Auburn Rec (10) 27-21 as Shana Gordon popped in 10 points. Kennedy Hubbard led Auburn with 8.

Dixfield (6) defeated Lisbon (11) 24-17. Lyndsy Crutchfield netted 10 for the Dixies. Natalie Bolduc added 6. Jordan Kates (6) and Kristi Bolduc (5) led Lisbon.

In the quarterfinals, North Franklin turned back Dixfield 46-14 as Annie Dexter scored 15 and Smith 12. Lexi Noyes netted 3 for the Dixies.

McKenzie Thompson registered 14 points to power Farmington to a 42-39 win over Turner (5). Mariah Treadwell led the Turner scorers.

Hilton and Meg Hall both scored 10 as Wilton defeated AYS 35-11. Randi Duguay collected 4 for AYS.

Eastman netted 10 as Oxford Hills eliminated Livermore Falls 51-16. Keene led LF with 11.

AAU makes change

SACO – Maine AAU Basketball has announced a change from age-based to grade-based divisions for girls. In the 2007 state tourney there will be separate age divisions for Grades 5-11.
