LEWISTON – Vandals apparently paint-balled the side of the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church sometime Thursday.

Then, they did it again the next day.

“We assume it’s just kids,” the Rev. Ted Toppses said. “It’s very sad, this level of disrespect.”

It’s too soon to know how much the cleanup will cost, he said. The paint balls hit the parking lot side of the 155 Hogan Road church about two dozen times.

Paint splattered the wall and struck one of the stained glass windows.

Toppses witnessed a car pull out of the churchyard Friday and gave police a description, he said.

“We don’t know if it was them,” Toppses said. “But it didn’t belong here.”

Police are investigating.
