ORONO – Emily Lewandowski won two events Saturday to lead the St. Dominic girls’ swim team to a seventh-place finish at the Class B state championships.

Lewandowski was named swimmer of the meet for her two victories.

After finishing with the silver medal last year, the St. Dom’s senior easily distanced the field to win the gold medal in the 200 individual medley. Lewandowski’s winning time was 2 minutes, 14.79 seconds, more than four seconds ahead of runner-up Katelyn Desrosiers of McAuley.

Lewandowski later tamed the field to capture the 100-yard breaststroke, narrowly beating Kristin Jackson of Falmouth, 1:09.63 to 1:09.74.

Saturday’s performances gives the St. Dom’s swimmer three individual state championships in the last two years. Lewandowski did not attempt to defend her 500 freestyle crown from last year.

Allison Cary placed eighth in both the 100 freestyle (59.57) and 100 backstroke (1:09.64). Naomi McGonagill also placed eighth in the 500 freestyle (6:07.18)

The Saints 200-freestyle relay team, anchored by Lewandowski, took seventh. Also swimming a leg on the relay were Cary, McGonagill and Eliza Scott.

Falmouth scored 344 points to capture the Class B team championship. Greely (319), Mt. Desert Island (250), McAuley (226) and Waterville (150) rounded out the top five.
