In reply to Bruce Wotton’s (Feb. 9) letter to the editor regarding older drivers, I believe that Mr. Wotton needs to review the latest statistics, because many young drivers have been involved in severe crashes and deaths on the road. I don’t recall seeing any elders facing deaths.
It seems to me that Mr. Wotton is looking to clear the roads for himself. The older drivers contribute to the communities by volunteering and helping others.
Using cell phones while driving is a killer by itself. I am a voter, too, and I challenge the Legislature to examine the large number of severe accidents caused by young drivers. The elderly are assisting much more in our communities than Mr. Wotton expresses in his letter.
Where’s the hurry?
