BRIGHTON, Mass. – Two Edward Little High School racewalkers took home medals Monday at the USA Track and Field New England region championships.

Christie Bernier, a freshman at EL, captured the silver medal in the 3,000-meter walk with a career-best 16 minutes, 27.44 seconds. The time qualifies Bernier for the junior national championships in June.

EL’s Teresea Ranucci finished third to win the bronze medal.

The race was won by Anne Favolise-Stanton of Columbia, Maine, in 15:03.84.

In the men’s race, Boothbay freshman Matthew Forgues was timed in 14:56.12 to finish second behind Mike Kazmierczak from the University of Rhode Island and in front of New Hampshire’s Bob Keating.
