BRUNSWICK – Andrew Brodsky captured the state championship in the 50-yard freestyle Tuesday at the Class A boys’ swim championships at Bowdoin College.

His gold-medal time of 21.35 in the 50 was nearly four-tenths of a second faster than runnerup James Wells of Morse.

The Edward Little senior also placed second in 100 freestyle, losing to Nick Daly of Cape Elizabeth, 49.26-49.78.

EL scored 47 points to place 14th. Lewiston was 19th with 22. Bangor dominated with 307 points.
