FARMINGTON – Kari Simpson, Caitlyn Laflin and Karen Siriois combined for 53 points to lead the University of Maine at Farmington to an 81-56 rout over Johnson State in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) quarterfinal action Tuesday.

The Beavers (23-3) had a scant six-point advantage at the break, but outscored Johnson (13-13) 42-23 in the second half to pull away for the victory.

Simpson led all players with 22 points and seven rebounds, while Laflin chipped in with 17 points and 14 rebounds.

Sirois had another strong performance with 15 points, six assists and five rebounds.

Johnson State was paced by Shelly Szkutak and Jenna Lewis with 12 points apiece, while Sara Dolan added 11.

Southern Maine 97, UMass Dartmouth 59

GORHAM – Stacey Kent drained a school-record eight three-pointers en route to a career-high 27 points to lead eighth-ranked University of Southern Maine to a 97-59 victory over UMass Dartmouth Tuesday evening at Hill Gymasium.

Senior forward Ashley Marble recorded her 17th consecutive double-double, scoring 19 points and pulling down a game-high 10 rebounds. Marble’s tally brings her career total to 1,848 points and second in all-time scoring at USM. Lindsey Welch chipped in for the Huskies (23-2) with 11 points, while Angela Santa Fe added 10.

Sophomore guard Vicki Andruszkiewicz and freshman guard Amanda Poniatowski combined to score 46 of the Corsairs’ 59 points. Andruskiewicz knocked down five three-pointers and was 9-for-18 from the floor, while Poniatowski was 6 -for-14 from the field and 6-for-7 from the free thrwo line with four assists.
