AMHERST, Mass. (AP) – Cory Quirk scored a power-play goal in the second period to ignite Massachusetts to a 3-1 victory over Maine Friday.

David Leaderer and Scott Crowder scored a goal each for the Minutemen (17-11-5, 14-9-3 Hockey East). Josh Soares tucked in the only goal of the game for Maine (21-11-2, 14-11-1).

Jon Quick made 27 saves for Massachusetts, while Dave Wilson had 34 for Maine.

The two teams are currently tied for fourth in the conference and are competing for home ice in the conference tournament, which begins next week.

The Minutemen can mathematically finish as high as third and as low as sixth in the league standings, with the top four teams earning home ice.
