OAK BLUFFS, Mass. – Robert McNamara served as secretary of Defense from Jan. 21, 1961, to Feb. 29, 1968. An Associated Press article on Monday’s A3 incorrectly reported him as serving in 1972 when an assassination attempt was made on his life on board the MV Island ferry.
